What is the PIC Act and what does this protection provide?

The term Critical Infrastructure defines the facilities and systems on which essential state services fall and whose operation does not allow alternative solutions. In one country, existing critical infrastructures fall into strategic sectors. Sectors that are basic and key to a country’s national security or for the economy as a whole such as: defense, energy, aerospace, nuclear, administration,financial, etc.

In Spain it is regulated by the Law on the Protection of Critical Infrastructures (Law PIC 8/2011) supplemented by Royal Decree 704/2011.

Protecting critical infrastructure is a complex task and it is not enough to have a system in place, you have to check that it works, measure its maturity over time and have constant updates.
